Elli Brown

Social Sector Researcher Focused on Poverty, Data, and Social Policy

We need high-quality, human-centred data to inform decisions that make life fairer, healthier, and more liveable for people facing economic hardship. I’m passionate about strengthening each step of this data-to-policy pipeline — from ensuring that people’s lived experiences are reflected in data, to translating and analysing that data clearly, to helping organisations and governments act on strong evidence.

I believe that good data can help build a more compassionate world where wealth and wellbeing is more equitably shared, and where policies meaningfully improve quality of life for those facing economic marginalisation.

I’m currently an MA candidate in Computational Social Sciences at the University of Lucerne🇨🇭, honing my skills in data science, research methods, and socioeconomic theory.

In 2025, I completed research for the Yukon Anti-Poverty Coalition exploring evidence and solutions for the health-poverty trap in the Yukon, Canada.

In 2024, I helped assess the feasibility and potential impact of a basic income program in the Yukon at the request of the Government of Yukon.
